Information about MotoTrials (Trial):

Unlike most other forms of motorcycle sport, MotoTrials (Trial) is not racing. It is simply you and your bike pitted against the terrain. MotoTrials is a sport of balance, skill and concentration. One at a time, competitors will ride over an obstacle course of boulders, streams, hill climbs, logs, drop offs, and nearly anything else they can find. MotoTrials is the world’s most popular participatory motorcycle sport. In Australia about one thousand riders compete, – in Europe hundreds of thousands compete regularly. MotoTrials riders compete in ALL weather conditions!!!

There are classes for everyone. From those yet to start school through Juniors (7 to up to 16 years of age) to “Seniors” (16 yrs and upwards) and onwards to Veterans from 40 to 70+. There are classes to cover all rider ability levels, from Expert through to Novice levels. Dependent on the event there are also classes for Masters (35+), Sidecar, Post-Classic (twin shock) and Classic. Whilst it is spectacular and sometimes appears dangerous at the top level, it is a very safe sport. Speed and other competitors are not factors likely to cause incidents, so the sport remains very safe. Very few injuries are sustained due to the low speeds and “one at a time” use of sections by competitors. Riders in the top classes attempt seemingly impossible obstacles, and in the process perform some of the most amazing skilled and trick riding – including air turns, bunny hops and bouncing the front and rear wheels during turns.

Spectators are always welcome with free admission at our Club events but bring sturdy footwear and camera and be ready to enjoy a good walk up and down hills, through bush and streams. No Dogs – Guide and Assistant Dogs excepted.

Please click the image below (for the 2024 calendar) to open and then download a pdf version to your computer. Volunteers to lay out the events and provide the required officials are being sought – feel free to volunteer. The calendar has been planned between the two Trials clubs to avoid clashes and giving many different events to ride during the year, starting in February – in-between cleaning, maintenance, and care for the bike(s) in the garage/shed.

100th Year Centenary Celebration

Our long serving members need no introduction to the 100th Year Centernary Celebration of the AJS Motorcycle Club (AJS MCC) which was held at the Woodvale Tavern, October 27th 7pm. Observed Trials, Trials, MotoTrials, or Trial, (different names, same challenges) has been an integral part of the history, contributions, leadership, and support of the AJS MCC over those 100 years. Through circumstance, the Trials division of the AJS MCC became incorporated in 2018 and is now known as the AJS MotoTrials Club but remains with strong links to the AJS MCC – obviously including the AJS Trial Park. There are many Trials related memorabilia, press cuttings, and trophies displayed at the AJS MCC Clubrooms, and the Life Member Honour Board reflects the long history and contribution that our shared Life Members have made to the off-road motorcycle disciplines over the years.

The previous Trial Park Gate sign as displayed on the ‘shipping container’ wall recognises that shared history of Trials within the AJS MCC.
